The Florida Panthers can stamp their ticket to the second round of the Stanley Cup playoffs tonight with a victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Amalie Arena (7:30 p.m. ET, ESPN 2 and Sportsnet 360).
Oddsmakers don’t expect it to be easy, however, opening the Lightning as -120 home favorites to stave off elimination in Game 5. The total sits at six after three of the first four games in the series featured at least six goals scored.

Paul saw his most ice time of this series in Game 2 when Brandon Hagel was suspended, and he made the most of it with a goal on three shots. Now that Hagel is out again - this time with an injury - Paul is primed for a similar opportunity in Game 5.
Despite recording just one point in the series, Paul has been one of the Lightning’s more effective forwards, leading the team in shot attempts per 60 minutes. He’s also seen 11 minutes of powerplay time.
If Paul can improve on his accuracy (he’s missed the net on seven of 14 unblocked shot attempts in the series), he should go over his 1.5 shots prop with ease.

🚨 Carter Verhaeghe Over 2.5 shots ⭐⭐⭐
Verhaeghe finally got off the schneid with his first goal of the series in Game 4, an empty-netter to seal Florida’s 4-2 victory. Even though he didn’t have to beat a netminder on that goal, seeing the puck go in the net is something to build on for a proven postseason performer who potted five goals against Tampa in last year’s playoffs.
Verhaeghe’s also due for some success after firing a team-high 21 shots in this series, nine of which were blocked. His 1.9 expected goals rank third among the Panthers, and his three high-danger chances are second.
Goals could be at a premium in Game 5 with Tampa desperate to stave off elimination, so I’ll play it a bit safer with Verhaeghe Over 2.5 shots at DraftKings’ -110 odds. However, DraftKings’ +320 price on Verhaeghe anytime goal is also worth a look if you’d like a shot at a fatter price.

🚨 Seth Jones Over 0.5 points ⭐⭐⭐
Two games after getting Aaron Ekblad back from a 20-game suspension, the Panthers will be without their top blueliner again tonight due to another suspension. That should elevate Jones back to the top-pairing role he played earlier in this series, including some time on Florida’s top powerplay unit.
Jones’s winning goal in Game 4 marked the second time in three playoff games that he’s recorded a point, and the fifth time in his last eight outings overall, dating back to the regular season.
